PRLog (Press Release) – Nov. 29, 2011 – DeLAND, FLORIDA — Landaal Packaging Systems (LPS) President, Steve Landaal https://www.landaal.com/ speaks as part of Stetson University’s Family Enterprise Center Speaker Series.
LPS President, Steve Landaal, shared his family’s unusual family business success story in Flint, Michigan amidst the highest unemployment in the nation along with the fall of the auto industry. Ninety-percent of family-owned businesses go bust before a third generation can take over — the Landaal Family has beaten those odds.
“The intertwined nature of sustainability and family business creates many dynamics that must be well- managed and well-communicated,” said Steve Landaal.
Mr. Landaal shared with students the three legged stool of sustainability – as related to family business.
Leg One: Economic Responsibility
Leg Two: Social Responsibility
Leg Three: Environmental Responsibility
These responsibilities are linked to the long-standing Landaal family values of God, Family, and Community.
Stetson University’s College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Music, and most graduate programs are housed at the DeLand campus, located just north of the downtown area of DeLand, Florida.
The School of Business’ Family Enterprise Center http://www.stetson.edu/portal/business/ is focused on providing the best educational opportunities for the individuals and entities that work with family enterprises:
• Members of the Next Generation
• Family Business Owners
• Professional Advisors to Family Enterprises
Mr. Landaal was part of the school’s guest Lecturer Series.
The Family Enterprise Center Speaker Series was established so that Stetson University students would have the opportunity to learn from, network with and dialogue with professionals working with the top family enterprises with the state, region and nation. This first-hand experience has brought our students face-to-face with many prominent business professionals, such as Mr. Steven C. Rockefeller, Jr. and Dr. Mark Hollis.
The Stetson University School of Business Administration is accredited by the AACSB, the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Of the more than 12,000 business schools worldwide, Stetson is one of only 497 that holds AACSB accreditation in the fields of business and accounting – and one of only 35 private colleges and universities that holds the accreditation in both fields.
Stetson University is the first school in the nation to offer a degree in Family Business and the second to offer it as a minor field of study. In this growing academic field, Stetson’s Family Enterprise Center can help you manage three potentially life-long relationships:
As a member of a closer-knit family;
As a (potential) employee/successor; and
As a (potential) owner/heir.
